Anxiety speaks through the body before it ever finds words.

It shows up in your racing thoughts, a clenched jaw and headaches, in your shoulders that never seem to drop, the restless nights, the stomach aches before school, and the way Sunday evenings bring dread before the week even begins.

Living in constant fight-or-flight leaves you both wired and exhausted at the same time.

Anxiety doesn’t follow logic.

That’s why talk therapy alone sometimes hits a wall – you can’t reason with a nervous system in overdrive. Our therapists use creative and body-based approaches to shift anxiety where it originates in your nervous system. That might mean painting the tightness in your chest, using movement to release built-up energy, or practicing somatic regulation tools to bring your body back into balance. These practices open new ways of working with worry instead of fighting against it.

In our sessions, we might start by having your child draw their worry as a creature or shape, giving it form outside their body. We use movement to shake out the jitters, teaching the body how to discharge stress instead of storing it. Breathwork becomes a game for younger kids, a superpower they can use when their heart races. For teens resistant to “feelings talk,” we might work with music or creative writing, letting them express their inner chaos without having to make eye contact or find perfect words.

We teach families to recognize anxiety’s early warning signals: the subtle shift in breathing, the shoulder tension, the particular quality of silence that means a storm is building. Parents learn co-regulation techniques that bring calm in the moment of meltdown. We also explore what anxiety might be protecting them from because there’s always something underneath the worry that needs tending to.

The goal isn’t to eliminate anxiety entirely because some degree of worry is part of being human. Instead, we help young people develop a different relationship with their anxious thoughts and sensations. They learn their anxiety isn’t the boss of them. They realize their body knows how to find calm. And slowly, the whole family’s nervous system begins to recalibrate back into attunement, creating more space between trigger and reaction and more choice in how to respond.
