Joanna Freda LMHC, M.S.Ed.
Hi, I’m Joanna! (she/her/hers)
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in individual therapy with children, adolescents, and adults to help them achieve social, emotional, and mental wellness. I received my degree from St. John’s University in Queens, where I was born and raised.
I have worked with a variety of populations including children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and adults with substance abuse disorders. Additionally, I am an ally to LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals. Currently, I work with children as young as 3 years old, adolescents and adults who experience challenges with feelings of anxiety, stress, depression, anger, divorce, social anxiety, school avoidance, relationship issues and more.
Alongside working with your child/children, I provide support to you as their parents/guardians in order to help you feel supported as well as feel better able to support your child/children. I believe therapy should be strengths-based, person-centered, and solution-focused. I use an eclectic, integrative approach to assist you and your child/children in identifying your/their strengths, establishing goals, and reaching your fullest potential.
In addition to being passionate about helping others through the therapeutic process, I also have over 10 years of experience of musical theater performance that I love to integrate into the therapeutic space with you/your child. Incorporating the creative connection in the therapeutic process will help you tap into your emotions and express yourself through play and art.
