Michelle Choy MHC-LP, M.S.
Hey, I’m Michelle! (She/Her/Hers)
I’m a Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Counselor who completed her Master’s at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I specialize in psychodynamic therapy with children, adolescents, and adults to provide emotional and mental support. More specifically, I help my clients to explore different coping strategies as they navigate through the struggle of life while practicing positive reinforcement and self-esteem building.
Although I do lean towards implementing a psychodynamic approach towards therapy, I make it my goal to integrate different theories of therapy to ultimately cater to the needs of my clients. In addition, my therapeutic style does not push my clients to make changes immediately, but emphasizes building a therapeutic relationship as a foundation for growth. By letting my clients ease into their own tempo regarding their progression during sessions, they can safely control how their therapeutic process goes on their own terms. I utilize art, play, and talk therapy to build a safe environment in which my clients and I can engage in a collaborative effort.
If you are unsure about whether therapy is a right fit for you, I am here to assure you that anyone and everyone can benefit from therapy. Your feelings and struggles are valid. I hope to see you and take that scary first step towards overall emotional and mental wellness alongside you.
